Accessibility statement
Last updated 3 October 2026
The Grillfather wants everyone to be able to use thegrillfather.no, whatever their abilities and whether they use a mouse, keyboard, screen reader, magnification or a phone. This statement explains what we have done, what we know is not good enough yet, and how to let us know.
1. Requirements and status
The website must meet the Norwegian requirements for universal design of ICT in section 17 of the Equality and Anti-Discrimination Act and the regulations on universal design of ICT solutions, which are based on the standard WCAG 2.1, level AA.
Our assessment is that the website is partially compliant with the requirements. The shortcomings we know about are listed in section 3.
2. What we have done
- A clear structure with headings in the right order and marked regions (menu, main content, footer), so screen readers can jump straight to where you want.
- A “Skip to content” link as the first element for keyboard users.
- Everything can be used with a keyboard, and it is clear where you are on the page (visible focus indicator).
- Images with content have a text description (alternative text). Purely decorative images are hidden from screen readers.
- The Oktoberfest poster has all the text from the poster (artist, date, place and price) in the image description.
- The booking buttons are phone links, so they work with a single tap on a phone and with a keyboard.
- Good contrast between text and background, in line with the requirement of at least 4.5:1 for normal text.
- The site adapts to phones, tablets and computers, and can be zoomed to 200% without content disappearing.
- The language is set as English on these pages (and Norwegian on the Norwegian pages), so screen readers pronounce the text correctly.
- No sound or video that starts by itself, and nothing that flashes.
- The consent banner can be used with a keyboard, and “Decline” and “Accept” are equally easy to choose.
3. Known shortcomings
- The Facebook preview under “Latest news” consists of images of posts with a link to the Facebook page. The posts themselves and the Facebook page are provided by Meta, and we cannot control how accessible they are.
- Online booking of tables, events and the food truck is not available yet – bookings are made by phone. When online booking arrives, the form will be built and tested for keyboard and screen reader use.
- The map is provided by OpenStreetMap and can be difficult to use with a screen reader and keyboard. The address is therefore also given as text next to it, with links to directions and a larger map.
We fix shortcomings as soon as we discover them or are told about them.
4. Give us feedback
Is something on the website hard to use, or do you need the information in another format? Let us know, and we’ll help you and fix the problem:

5. Complaints and supervision
If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can complain to the Authority for Universal Design of ICT (the Norwegian Digitalisation Agency), which checks that websites meet the requirements. You can also contact the Equality and Anti-Discrimination Ombud.
